Mid-week Rides

We will have a ride every week from the end of March to the end of September*. Mid-week rides run in the following format: 

  • A Green (Social) ride - max 25-30mi, max 1500ft with an average speed of 12-14mph

  • A Blue (Challenging) ride - max 30-40mi, max 2000ft with an average speed of 14-16mph

  • A Red (Challenging) ride - max 30-40mi, max 2500 ft with an average speed of 16+mph

  • A Black (Very Challenging) ride - no maxiumum distance, elevation or speed

The speed on these rides may vary slightly to cater for the different needs of the group on the day and the terrain in which the ride will take. All rides are no drop so no-one will be left behind. Green group will ride as a pack but the other groups can ride ahead and wait for the rest as required (for example when riding up a hill).

Meeting points will be: 

  • Rickerby Park - CA3

  • Richard Rose (Morton) - CA2 6LB

  • Carlisle Racecourse - CA2 4TS

  • Rosehill (ATS) - CA1 2RW

The route, meeting place and level will be available on our calendar (for club members) or by speaking to our Welfare Officer for non-members. Starting times will differ depending on daylight hours but are normally between 1800 and 1830.

The mid-week rides will predominantly be on a Wednesday, however, this may change week on week to accomodate inclement weather. Please check which day the ride will be on if you are signing up for a Try Ride.

* From October until the end of February, weekly rides will be at the Cycle Circuit at Harraby meeting on a Tuesday evening at 7pm. These coached sessions are suitable for all skill levels and are aimed at maintaining ride fitness over the winter whilst developing riding skills in a safe environment. There will be a small charge for these sessions to cover the cost of the circuit hire and floodlighting.

Weekend Rides

We have a monthly ride in the middle of each month (Club members only). These occur throughout the year in the following format:

  • Social ride - max 50mi, no more than 3000ft, no max speed

  • Challenging ride - 51+mi, no max elevation or speed

Unofficial Rides

The afforementioned rides are our Club Official Rides which will always be lead by a Ride Co-Ordinator; however, Club members regularly create their own unofficial rides throughout the week which any member is free to join. All unofficial rides are published on our closed Facebook group.
