Reivers Awards 2025

Each year the club celebrates those who embody the Reivers spirit the most. Nominations are invited from across the club with every member able to vote.

Road Captain of the Year

This Cup is awarded to the individual who, in the opinion of the Club Members, has contributed most to the success and spirit of Club Rides throughout the year. The recipient will have demonstrated outstanding empathy, support, and leadership—whether by formally leading rides, assisting others, or helping to create a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable riding experience for all.

Nigel "The Wasp" Dickinson

Nigel is a tireless and thoughtful ride organiser who consistently plans and leads club rides with great care and attention to detail. He creates varied routes with different terrain and café stops, always ensuring that riders are safe, supported, and finish together. Alongside another ride organiser, Nigel forms a reliable, well organised and committed team, constantly delivering regular rides for the benefit of club members & even covering for each other when one is away. His dedication and consistency have made a real difference to the club experience for a great many members.

(Nigel was on holiday so did not receive his award on the night).

John Rea

John is a machine on the bike! The miles he puts in are incredible - as of this evening, he’s ridden 13,946 miles this year so far, almost 14,000 miles. Astonishing!

John is always up for a challenge - if you know of any gruelling climb, route or challenge, John has taken it on. He’s done the Fred Whitton more times than most can count. John turns up to all the club rides and always with a smile on his face, a great sense of humour and lots of encouragement for others. John is a true Reiver in every sense and his riding ability and achievements are astounding.

Reiver of the Year

This Shield is awarded to the Club Member who has demonstrated throughout the year a selfless commitment to ensure that the Club's interests and reputation are maintained to the highest standard. The winner of this award, will be considered by their peers, to have given the most time and energy to the Club.

2025 : Mally Armstrong

Mally has gone from strength to strength as a ride leader and, more-so, a ride organiser. He consistently leads weekly rides with a calm, welcoming attitude and good spirits, helping make each ride enjoyable for all. He’s amazing at finding new roads to ride, creating different routes & challenges, organising café stops & sorting rider groups at the start of his rides.

Mally puts on rides relentlessly every single week, throughout all seasons. He selflessly gives of his time & his energy for club members and his rides are well attended and loved by many. He is a superb ride leader, always ensuring no rider is dropped and any incidents, such as mechanicals, are resolved, usually by himself!

Mally is a giver who enjoys providing rides for others to enjoy, always riding at the back and ensuring that the weaker riders are well looked after. He’s an absolute star and the time he gives so selflessly has made a massive difference to the club and it’s members.
